John Legend was in Duane Reade on 2nd and B tonight; he came up to me with a pack of bobby pins and said Can I ask you a question? My girlfriend asked me to get her some bobby pins...is that what I have here? When I said yes, he laughed and thanked me and walked away.

Came up out of the subway at union square this morning and John Legend was sitting near the fountain with a guitar player doing a song. There was a camera there shooting it for something but mostly just people with their cellphones taking pictures. Was kinda cool to see on a Monday morning! Well, that and the Farmer's Market. Mmm...

I saw John Legend at Bungalow 8. He looked really relaxed in a leather bomber jacket as he mingled with the guests of a friend's birthday party (he even sang "Happy Birthday" along with the rest of the group). When my friend introduced me to him, he was very gracious and soft-spoken. Swoon.

Had brunch next to John Legend at Cafe Mogador in the East Village on Saturday around noon. He was with a Asian girl/friend(?), talking about his new project with Kanye and what a prolific writer he has been in the last year. What a sonorous voice!

At the 99 cent store on 1st Ave between 4th & 5th. God knows what he was looking for, but I heard him tell his lovely companion that they should go to the hardware store next.
